Advanced Research spent several years assisting the USDA Systematic Entomology Laboratory in building a series of austere database applications. These applications provided a method to catalog, describe, search, and retrieve various entomolical parameters of supported insect collections.

The database applications provide a transparent web based interface for querying the collections as well as an update tool to add to and correct the database. The real challenge to the team was learning the language of taxonomy and applying it to a database schema.
